Indigenous Advisory Committee

From: Impact Assessment Agency of Canada

Public Notice

August 21, 2018 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is seeking applications from individuals interested in becoming members of its Indigenous Advisory Committee.

Members will provide the Agency with expert advice and participate in the development of policy and guidance for the proposed new impact assessment system.

The Committee will include First Nations, Inuit, and Métis members. Representation from all three distinct Indigenous peoples will help to ensure that the Committee provides a broad and inclusive perspective reflective of the unique rights, interests, priorities and circumstances of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

The Committee will also provide advice and support to the Agency’s work with Indigenous peoples in the development of a broad range of policies and guidance related to the proposed new impact assessment process.

For more information on the Committee and how to apply, please refer to the Call for Nominations.

You are encouraged to share the Call for Nominations widely across your networks and with those you feel may have an interest in becoming a Committee member.

Applications will be accepted until October 7, 2018.

The Agency is also creating a Technical Advisory Committee on Science and Knowledge to provide expert advice on topics related to impact assessments, including Indigenous knowledge, as well as regional and strategic assessments.

Please see the Technical Advisory Committee on Science and Knowledge’s Call for Nominations for more details.
