Application deadline extended for Connect to Innovate program

News Release

Minister Bains extends deadline to submit applications for funding

February 2, 2017 – Ottawa – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada

Prior to launching Connect to Innovate, extensive consultations about the program's parameters, including the amount of time applicants would require to apply, were held across the country. Recently, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada received feedback from communities indicating that more time was needed to prepare applications given the complexity of their projects and the number of partners involved.

The Government of Canada's goal is to ensure that as many rural and remote communities as possible benefit from better access to high-speed Internet while maintaining a competitive and fair process. That's why the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, today announced that the Connect to Innovate application deadline would be extended from March 13, 2017, to April 20, 2017.

As a result of this program, Canadians living in rural and remote communities will be able to unlock a full suite of modern digital tools and services to fully participate in our digital economy.

Quote
