Ministers Bains and Chagger to participate in Startup Day on the Hill

Ottawa, October 18, 2017—The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and the Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, will participate in the following Startup Day on the Hill events on October 19, 2017:

Opening ceremony

Minister Chagger will deliver opening remarks to kick off the day’s celebrations.

Time: 8:40 to 9:05 a.m.

Panel discussion: building an inclusive economy

Minister Chagger will participate in a panel discussion, moderated by Catherine Cano, President of Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC), on building an inclusive economy. Panelists will include Nyla Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Marketing at Rogers Communications; John Hamblin, Founder of Startup Halifax; Maayan Ziv, Founder and CEO of AccessNow; and Patrice Mousseau, Founder of Satya Organic Skin Care.

Time: 9:20 to 9:50 a.m.

Startup Awards

Minister Chagger will deliver opening remarks at the Startup Awards, a national ceremony recognizing and celebrating the outstanding achievements of Canada’s entrepreneurs.

Minister Bains will also be in attendance and will be recognized for his contributions in advancing entrepreneurship and innovation in Canada.

Time: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
