Minister Chagger to address women entrepreneurs and innovators on International Women’s Day

Ottawa, March 7, 2018—To mark International Women’s Day, the Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, will speak at a breakfast discussion hosted by BMO Financial Group and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
This breakfast event, “Pressing for Progress: Sustainable Advancement for Women in Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” will feature a panel discussion on the implications of gender differences in approaches to innovation for business and the Canadian economy.
Panelists will also examine the role that industry and various levels of government can play in creating a robust ecosystem for women business owners.
This event follows BMO’s recent release of “Everywhere, Every Day Innovating: Women Entrepreneurs and Innovation,” a report by Clare Beckton and Janice McDonald in partnership with Carleton University and the Beacon Agency, which also examines the obstacles women entrepreneurs face in starting and growing their businesses.
After the event, Minister Chagger will speak to media about the government’s work in supporting women entrepreneurs and innovation.
