Minister Joly in Rivière-du-Loup to talk tourism and economic growth

Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, August 31, 2018—The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie, will meet with Tourisme Rivière-du-Loup and local tourism stakeholders to gain insight on how the tourism sector in the region operates and to discuss the contribution that tourism makes to the region. She will also participate in a roundtable with the chamber of commerce and local tourism stakeholders.

Tourism is an important sector, a key driver of the Canadian economy and an engine of middle-class jobs. The tourism sector accounts for 2 percent of Canada’s GDP and supports more than 1.8 million jobs in communities across the country.

Minister Joly will hold a media availability after the roundtable.
