Minister Joly to celebrate accomplishments of Canadian tourism community

Gatineau, Quebec, November 27, 2018—The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie, will attend the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) Tourism Congress and participate in the Canadian Tourism Awards ceremony.

More than 400 tourism industry participants are gathered in Gatineau, Quebec, for TIAC’s two-day annual congress. Minister Joly is using this opportunity to engage members of the community about the economic potential of Canada’s tourism industry. The Minister’s actions will inform a new national tourism strategy that will help create employment opportunities for the middle class across Canada.

Media are invited to join Minister Joly as she celebrates the award winners and nominees at this year’s ceremony. The event recognizes some of the most creative and dynamic individuals in the tourism sector, which supports more than 1.8 million jobs in Canada. These awards have become the standard of excellence for businesses and organizations in the travel industry, showcasing Canada’s best tourism products, services and experiences.
