Ministers Bains and Anand to provide an update on Canadian industrial effort in the fight against COVID-19

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, and the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, will be at GM Canada’s Oshawa Operations facility to provide an update on made-in-Canada solutions that are helping in the fight against COVID-19.

Date: Friday, July 10, 2020

11:15 a.m. – Ministerial tour of the Canadian Mask Making (CMM) room. Space is limited. In order to respect physical distancing, we ask that media pool their coverage of the tour. Therefore, only one pool cameraman and photographer will be allowed in the CMM room.

Arrival time: Please arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. to allow time for PPE pickup and COVID-19 entry procedures.

Directions:
Head south on Park Road South toward GM’s South Main Office located at 900 Park Road South, Oshawa.
Entrance to the security clearance area is just south of GM’s South Main Office (entrance is on the west side of the street).
Look for a white tent. Visitors will be screened prior to entry, which will include a COVID-19 questionnaire, temperature screening, hand sanitization, and mask and safety glasses pickup.
Upon completion of screening, visitors will be escorted (by vehicle only—convoy) to the Canadian Mask Making (CMM) room.

Important note for media:

Before arriving on site, all visitors must watch GM’s 2020 visitor safety protocol video.

Upon arrival, all visitors will need to go through GM’s COVID-19 entry procedures, which include:

  • A self-declaration questionnaire
  • Temperature screening
  • Mask and safety glasses pickup (provided by GM)
    • Masks are to be worn at all times while in the plant.
  • A hand sanitizing station

Visitors must respect physical distancing guidelines, and they are required to wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or high heels).
