On September 7, 2023, the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, together with the Honourable Lisa Beare, British Columbia's Minister of Citizens' Services, announced over $58 million in federal and provincial funding to bring high-speed Internet access to over 5,400 households in rural and remote communities in the Columbia Basin area of British Columbia.
