Stakeholders' Forum

The Stakeholders' Forum brings together national professional associations from the world of archives, libraries, and museums to discuss strategic issues for the GLAM sector. It facilitates the exchange of ideas and information among members and with LAC, while also serving as a creative space to test ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Meeting summary

The Forum is held twice a year, with one session conducted in-person and the other online.

Spring 2026
  • Members met virtually in May to share updates on key initiatives and discuss ongoing issues.
  • Special presentations:
    • Anna Gibson Hollow, Mab Coates-Davis, and Kyle Pugh, ACA’s perspective of the impact of Bill C-3: An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2025)
    • Ken Amaral, 2025 report on the Government of Canada Survey of Heritage conducted by the Department of Canadian Heritage
Fall 2025

November’s virtual meeting allowed members to share highlights of activities currently underway within their organizations and to discuss key issues affecting the GLAM sector.

Spring 2025
  • In June, members gathered at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) in Ottawa, Ontario to discuss ongoing issues and trends in the GLAM sector. The Association of Parliamentary Libraries in Canada was welcomed as a new member organization.

Fall 2024
  • At December’s virtual meeting, the Stakeholders’ Forum welcomed a new member organization: The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).
  • Special presentations:
    • Raegan Swanson, ACA’s Indigenous Matters Working Group on Caretaking Memory: A Resource Guide for Archival Practitioners Working in Indigenous-Centred Archives.
    • Jason Friedman, CRKN – LAC’s Departmental Letterbooks Transcription Pilot Project
    • Mathieu Sabourin, LAC Transkribus Update: Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of History
Spring 2024
  • In June, the Stakeholders’ Forum members met virtually to share updates and discuss the future of the Forum. Members launched a pilot Community of Interest on awareness and mobilization, co-led by the Secretariat and 2 members: Andrea Cecchetto (CFLA) and Angela Fornelli (ACA).
