Quarterly statistics on access to information and privacy at Library and Archives Canada

As outlined in its Access to information and privacy (ATIP) action plan, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the administration of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. LAC strives to respond to requests as promptly as possible and to provide high-quality service to all requesters.

The information in the table below provides an overview of ATIP's workload from October 1 to December 31, 2025, compared with the previous reporting period, and highlights LAC’s ongoing efforts to improve performance and enhance service delivery.

Despite receiving a higher volume of requests than during the previous reporting period, ATIP closed more requests than it received, resulting in a 13% increase in the number of requests completed.

The time required to respond to an ATIP request can vary depending on the number and complexity of the records requested. Processing time may also be delayed when consultations with external organizations are required before certain information can be released.
