International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSN)
Reduced operations December 29–January 2
The CIP Program, as well as ISSN, ISBN and ISMN Canada will be operating at reduced capacity from December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026, inclusively. Our response time is expected to be longer than usual during this period.
An International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is an 8-digit code that uniquely identifies a serial or other continuing resource (periodical, magazine, journal, newspaper, annual, monographic series, website or database). Canadian publishers are not obligated to obtain ISSNs, but Government of Canada publishers are required to use them. ISSN Canada provides ISSNs for free.
