Take and send your photo for your secure status card for free.

The new SCIS Photo App will allow people to take “passport style” photos, submit their photos and provide their guarantor’s name, email address, and signature through a mobile device. This information will be securely transmitted to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) through the App.

You must be registered as a status Indian under the Indian Act to get a status card. To complete your application for the Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS), you must submit an application form and supporting documentation.

Applicants will no longer need to pay to have “passport style” photos taken. The Government of Canada is committed to eliminating barriers and improving services to First Nation communities. The new SCIS Photo App has been developed to eliminate the cost of photos for applicants and provide a convenient way to provide photos for a secure status card application.
