The National Battlefields Commission invites you to come meet friendly Bonhomme Carnaval this Sunday, January 29 at 3:15 p.m. at the Plains of Abraham Museum. This proud symbol of winter tourism worldwide will be with us at the Museum hall prior to the arrival of the popular guided tour, The Snowshoer. Reserve for January 29 or a later date and obtain a $2 discount upon the presentation of your carnival effigy. The discount also applies to the Battles Exhibition and snowshoe, cross-country ski and skate rentals at the skaters’ chalet. The effigy may be purchased at the Plains of Abraham Museum.

The Snowshoer
History lovers and winter recreationalists, take part in this guided trip on snowshoes. Accompany a 20th century snowshoer on a tour of the Plains. An original recreational outing reminiscent of the “belle époque” of winter sports and leisure activities of yesteryear. Traditional laced snowshoes, arrowhead sash and hot chocolate included!
In English: February 4 and 11. In French: January 28 and 29; February 5, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
$17 / ages 10 to 64, $15 / ages 65 and older. $2 discount upon presentation of the carnival effigy.
Also available on Valentine’s Day: The Snowshoer went a courtin’. A theme-based tour that includes stories about the courtship rituals of the golden age of snowshoeing and the fascinating — and sometimes racy— stories of our ancestors. Equipment and hot chocolate included.
In French only: February 14 at 7 p.m. $17 / ages 13 to 64, $15 / ages 65 and older. $2 discount upon presentation of the carnival effigy.

Battles Exhibition | 1759-1760
Battles is an innovative and authentic exhibition in Québec presented through a unique immersive projection where history and technology blend seamlessly. Relive the battles of the Plains of Abraham and Sainte-Foy through the original and sometimes poignant descriptions of French, British, Canadian and Amerindian protagonists and the written accounts of 17 witnesses from the era. Four different perspectives merge into a touching and vibrant collective gaze at a dramatic period of our history.
Open year round at a cost of $30 / families, $4 / ages 5 to 12, $10 / ages 13 to 17 or ages 65 and older and $12 / ages 18 to 64 (free for children ages 4 and under). $2 discount upon presentation of the carnival effigy.
Skating on the Plains of Abraham skating rink
The skating rink is a joint effort partnered by Ville de Québec and the NBC to allow you to experience the great outdoors in downtown Québec City. It is located at the playing fields west of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. Equipment rental services are offered at the skaters’ chalet.

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing
Ski in one of the most accessible and enchanting locations offering a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River. At the Plains of Abraham, there are 11.3 km of groomed trails for beginner and intermediate cross-country skiers; a 3.8 km (round trip) trail for snowshoeing along Cap Diamant from the Cap Blanc staircase to Gilmore Hill; and 6.6 km of walking trails. A waxing room and three heated rest areas are also open to visitors at the Plains of Abraham Museum, the Pavilion (near the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand) and the skaters’ chalet (skating rink). At the skaters’ chalet, the Friends of the Plains of Abraham offer equipment rental services ($) daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Information: 418 208-7722. Classic cross-country skiing lessons ($) are also available: 418 649-6476 or 581 741-3991.
