The Plains welcome the Pentathlon des neiges
February 24, 2017 – Québec – The National Battlefields Commission
For a tenth year, the National Battlefields Commission is pleased to welcome the Pentathlon des neiges to the Plains of Abraham. This winter sports event runs from February 24 to March 5, 2017. The first national historic park takes great pride in the wealth of winter sports offered onsite – cross country skiing, snowshoeing, walking and skating ― and will also host the fourth edition of Québec ITU Winter Triathlon on February 26.
The Commission invites history lovers and outdoors enthusiasts to take advantage of their presence on the Plains to discover a magnificent site and its past during a snowshoe trek:
Until March 10, put on your cap, mittens, arrow-head sash and traditional laced snowshoes to learn more about winter sports and leisure activities at the dawn of the 20th century. Amédée will rendezvous with you to reminisce about the two Stanley Cups won by the Québec Bulldogs, ski jumping, ski jöering, winter treks and much more. Equipment and hot chocolate included! In French only.
Snowshoer Family Outing
During the school break from March 6 to 10, 2 p.m., relive the winters of old during an exciting walk in traditional snowshoes on the Plains of Abraham. Learn about the chores that people from the era did during the long months of snow. Identify animal tracks and, with your family, enjoy the tales of your storyteller guide while sipping delicious hot chocolate. In French only.
