February 21, 2019 – Québec – The National Battlefields Commission

The National Battlefields Commission is proud to be the host site for the Pentathlon des neiges presented by MEC for a 12th consecutive year. This innovative sports event from February 23 to March 3 will draw more than 6,000 participants from eight countries to the Plains of Abraham, the first national historic park in Canada. This year, personalities from the early 20th century – Amédée Fournier, Flore Tanguay and none other than Joe Malone will be on the start line of the Défi corporative (corporate challenge) Saturday February 23… with their equipment from the past!

Quick facts

  • The Plains of Abraham Team participating in the corporate challenge will be made up of Amédée Fournier, Vice-president of the Union Commerciale’s “Amateurs de racquettes” snowshoe club, his wife, Flore, and the famous Joe Malone, Captain of the Bulldogs. The couple will share the events involving snowshoeing, bicycling and running, while Joe Malone, whose team won the Stanley Cup twice at the Quebec Skating Rink on the Plains of Abraham, will perform on skates.
