No-contact pick-up activities on the Plains of Abraham!
News release
April 22, 2021 – Québec – The National Battlefields Commission
Starting Friday April 23, parents and children will be able to enjoy nature on the Plains of Abraham through entertaining activities offered in a no-contact pick-up setup – in a completely safe way. Outdoor escape games and treasure hunts will lead families to explore little known places in the Battlefields Park and immerse themselves in the history of this mythical site.
Shouldering a military backpack, participants in The Challenge of the Great Wars escape rally follow the steps of soldier, poet and chaplain Frederick George Scott. In less than 105 minutes, they must unlock the contents of the backpack and face challenges while discovering how two world wars marked the history of the park. Younger children will love the treasure hunt, The Landscape Architect and the Hidden Treasure with its mystery map and puzzles to solve.
This summer, two new escape rallies will be added to the Plains programming. Starting May 14, The Masters Tournament sends participants to roam the park with a golf bag full of locks and sports equipment. Who knows, maybe they’ll win the cup! Starting August 20, The Forgotten Ones sheds light on forgotten witnesses of the siege of Québec. Pushing their wheelbarrow, participants roam the battlefield to collect pieces of the puzzle and learn about the history of the forgotten ones.
The National Battlefields Commission prioritizes employee and park user safety. Until further notice, families may recover their activities bags using the same no-contact pick-up setup developed and used successfully last fall. The Commission is counting on participants’ cooperation and strict compliance with all health measures in effect.
