Media Invitation - The Homes of Cove Fields

The National Battlefields Commission (NBC) is inviting media representatives to the launch of a pop-up installation: The Homes of Cove Fields.
When: Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 10 a.m.
Where: Behind the Plains of Abraham Museum, on the site for major events
835 Ave. Wilfrid-Laurier, Québec, QC G1R 2L3
A historical character from that time will accompany you and help you learn more about the community of Cove Fields. Also known as the Faubourg de la misère (“the poor suburb”), it existed from 1945 to 1951 as the last place on the Plains with civilian residents.
Caroline Ricard will be available to answer your questions. She is the Senior Advisor to the CEO, Archives & Collections, of the National Battlefields Commission.
During the launch, you will learn about the new features of this installation, particularly some modules that are as big as the dormitory units of that time.
The Homes of Cove Fields will be accessible to the public for free until the end of October.
A call for recollections
On this occasion, the National Battlefields Commission will unveil the details of an ethnographic survey to be jointly carried out with La Horde Patrimoine appliqué and the Faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines of Université Laval.
Hélène Dupont-Hébert will be on hand to provide you with more information. She is an ethnologist and the project leader.
The NBC will use this event to ask the public for their recollections, especially those people who used to live on Cove Fields between 1945 and 1951 and their family members.
