The Échos / de awehskwahk Event on the Plains for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

News release

Québec, QC, September 19, 2023 – As part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, the Plains of Abraham will host the Musée ambulant's Échos / de awehskwahk event. Visitors of all ages are welcome to participate in this event, which is an opportunity to meet and share around art. The event will take place at the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand from 10 am to 4 pm.

This activity will feature the work of Wendat artist Andrée Levesque Sioui and Québec artist Jeffrey Poirier. The fléché-woven work they have created together represents the dialogue between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. This work was presented at cégeps in the Québec region while it was in progress and will be unveiled in its completed form for the first time on September 30.

Both artists will be on site throughout the day to talk with the public. Visitors can also enjoy the art of Wendat artist Ludovic Boney and participate in a family-friendly textile workshop. Hot drinks and snacks will be offered to encourage a jovial atmosphere and sharing around the works of art. Presentations will be made throughout the day during this free event.

The Musée ambulant’s Échos / de awehskwahk project was made possible through financial support from the Government of Quebec and the City of Québec under the Cultural Development Agreement.
