Media Advisory – Restoration of the Des Braves Monument

Beginning December 5, the National Battlefields Commission (NBC) will be making repairs to the Des Braves Monument, which is located on the grounds of Des Braves Park.

As part of major work to restore the monuments it has a mandate to preserve, the NBC will dismantle the Des Braves Monument in its entirety in order to make a complete restoration of the column and all of its decorative features over the next few months.  

This work comes under the NBC’s mission to preserve historical heritage. To the same end, the Wolfe Monument and the Cross of Sacrifice have both undergone restoration work over the past year.
