Reminder - Minister Champagne to announce a significant milestone in the construction of the National Research Council’s new biomanufacturing centre

Ottawa, Ontario, June 18, 2021 – Members of the media are invited to attend an event with the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. Minister Champagne will announce a significant milestone in the construction of the new Biologics Manufacturing Centre at the National Research Council of Canada’s (NRC) Royalmount location in Montréal. A media availability will follow the announcement, and interested members of the media are invited to tour the facility following the announcement.

Media tour of the Biologics Manufacturing Centre

Following the announcement, interested media will be offered a guided tour of the facility. As space is limited, media must register in advance for the tour before Monday, June 21 at 12:00 pm ET by contacting NRC media relations at media@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca.

Construction zone and COVID-19 considerations

Media and guests are asked to respect local physical distancing guidelines. Participants will be required to sign-in and provide their name and phone number, for contact tracing, if entering the building.

Flat, closed-toe shoes are required to tour the facility. Long pants are recommended. Other required protective equipment will be provided.

In accordance with Health Canada’s Public Service Occupational Health Program and with public health advice, anyone entering NRC buildings – including the Biologics Manufacturing Centre – is required to wear an NRC‑supplied mask at all times when indoors and in shared outdoor spaces. Non‑medical masks will be provided.
