How to apply

If interested in applying to become a Maritime Tactical Operator (MTO), contact rcn-psel@forces.gc.ca

Do I have to be in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) already to join the Advanced Naval Capabilities Unit (ANCU), or can I apply directly at a Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Centre?

Potential MTO candidates must be currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force or Reserve Force member.

I am a currently serving CAF member. What requirements must I meet in order to apply?

Candidates from all occupations and elements may apply and at a minimum must have achieved their Operationally Functional Point and have a valid FORCE test.

It is also recommended that applicants have a minimum medical category of 32225.

Finally, members must pass a Pre-selection Fitness Test administered by PSP staff within six months of the assessment centre start date.

Currently serving personnel can contact rcn-psel@forces.gc.ca for additional details.

How long is the training?

All candidates will undergo the five-day selection process at the Maritime Tactical Operator Assessment Centre (MTOAC) and officers will be required to complete an additional two days.

Selection is conducted at Albert Head Training Facility, which is part of Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt located in Metchosin, B.C.

Selected candidates are then invited to participate in the six-month Maritime Tactical Operator Course conducted at the training facility. If successful further specialized training will be conducted at the unit level as required.
