Our organization
The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) is Canada’s naval force consisting of approximately 8,400 Regular Force and 4,100 Reserve sailors, supported by approximately 3,800 civilian employees.
Structure
The RCN is directed through Naval Staff Headquarters by the Commander of the RCN, whose mission is to lead the strategic development and generation of combat capable multi-purpose naval forces and to provide advice in support of maritime operations.
Additionally, the RCN is divided into three formations – Maritime Forces Pacific, Maritime Forces Atlantic, and the Naval Reserve. These formation make their own unique contributions to the overall Navy strategy and are directly responsible to the Commander of the RCN.
