Member of Parliament Dick Harris (Cariboo-Prince George), on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that, under the second round of the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program, the Government of Canada is providing up to $140,000 to the Baker Creek Enhancement Society, Fraser Basin Council and Nechako Environment and Water Stewardship Society to conserve fish habitat in B.C.'s Central Interior.

Member of Parliament Dan Albas, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that, under the second round of the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program, the Government of Canada will provide $55,000 to the Steelhead Society of British Columbia to conserve fish habitat in the Nicola River.
Thirteen members of the Canadian Coast Guard Atlantic Region will be awarded Exemplary Service Medals at Government House in St. John's. The awards will be presented by the Honourable Frank F. Fagan, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador on behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada and Commander-Chief of the Canadian Coast Guard.

The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today announced that up to $6.8M was awarded to over 80 projects undertaken between 2014 and 2016 under the third round of the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program (RFCPP). She also highlighted that a fourth round of applications was announced by the Prime Minister on October 17, 2014. Interested groups have until December 12, 2014 to submit their projects.

As of 9:30 a.m. PST efforts continue to assist the Russian-flagged cargo ship Simushir, with 10 crewmembers onboard, located off the south west end of Haida Gwaii.
The Honorable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) and Minister for the Arctic Council, today announced that a partnership of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, the Inuvialuit Game Council and the Fisheries Joint Management Committee signed the Beaufort Sea Integrated Fisheries Management Framework. This agreement between the Inuvialuit and Canada is an important accord that represents a cooperative management approach to marine mammals and fish that exist in the Inuvialuit Settlement Area of the Western Arctic.
