"It was as always, a real pleasure to be in British Columbia this past week to announce investments from our Government totaling over $57 million in BC science facilities, marine protection and Pacific Salmon research.
On May 29, Greg Kerr, MP for West Nova, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, will announce a Government of Canada investment in the Parker's Cove Small Craft Harbours.

The Canadian Coast Guard announces the reopening of its seasonal rescue stations in Bainsville (Ontario), Pointe-Anglais (Oka), Beaconsfield, Longueuil, Sorel and Trois-Rivières. These bases will be in regular operation starting at noon May 28, 2015 until September 7, 2015.
On July 10, 2014, a pseudorca (false killer whale) calf was found stranded at Chesterman beach in Tofino, BC. Pseudorcas are rare in British Columbia, typically inhabiting warmer waters. Once it was determined that the pseudorca (later named Chester) would not survive without medical intervention, Fisheries and Oceans Canada issued a transport licence to the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Program so that the animal could be moved to their rescue facility for urgent care.
