The Honourable Peter MacKay, Regional Minister for Nova Scotia and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister for the Arctic Council, today announced that the new St. Peter's Canal National Historic Site swing bridge will become a two-lane bridge. The design is currently being finalized and will be shared with the public later this year.

With support from the federal Gas Tax Fund, the City of Melville has just completed phase 1 of its new water treatment plant. This included the construction of two new potable water wells. The wells will replace the surface water source the city had been using and now supply residents and businesses with a reliable source of clean, clear water.
