On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-Chief of Canada, the Honourable Michael Wilson, Ambassador of Canada to the United States, awarded two Meritorious Service Decorations (Military Division), to foreign individuals whose specific achievements have brought honour to Canada. Colonel Thomas Seay and Colonel Richard Stephen Williams received the Meritorious Service Medal during a private ceremony held at the Canadian embassy in Washington, on March 24, 2009.

The Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science & Technology) and the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, is in Fredericton today to announce the signing of three landmark collaborative research projects between the National Research Council (NRC) and the Department of National Defence (DND).
The Government of Canada is supporting a project under the Drug Strategy Community Initiatives Fund that will help prevent British Columbia youth from using illicit drugs. The announcement was made today by Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country, on behalf of Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health.
