Military personnel are the most important resource of the Canadian Forces (CF). They and their loved ones deserve the best possible care and support. Over the last ten years, the Department of National Defence (DND) and the CF have put into place a full range of programs and initiatives to contribute to the identification, prevention and treatment of mental health problems such as operational stress injury (OSI), which includes post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).1
The Honourable Peter Gordon MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister of the Atlantic Gateway, and the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, will make a joint announcement regarding the acquisition of equipment for the Canadian Forces.

We have once again received terrible news from Afghanistan, having just learned that Trooper Brian Richard Good was killed and three others were injured when an improvised explosive device detonated in the Shah Wali Kowt District. A member of The Royal Canadian Dragoons, Trooper Brian Richard Good was serving with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group. The relentless violence with which our troops are confronted in Afghanistan continues on a daily basis.

QUEBEC CITY - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), Quebec Region, advises that the groundfish ice fishing season on the Saguenay River will open on January 12, 2009, and close on March 12, 2009. In accordance with the current regulations and scientific advice, each person is allowed to catch a maximum of 5 groundfish per day of any type, with the exception of halibut, which must be returned to the water.
