The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry, and the Honourable Michael Fortier, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister Responsible for Montreal, today announced the launch of a new transparent and fully accountable research and development (R&D) initiative to promote excellence and accelerate innovation in Canada's aerospace, defence, security and space (A&D) industries.
OTTAWA -- Airports across Canada will receive close to $33 million for 28 new projects to enhance their safety. MONTREAL -- The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, announced today that more than $1.2 million in Airports Capital Assistance Program funds have been made available for projects to improve safety at Baie Comeau, Inukjuak, Rimouski, Mont-Joli and Gaspé airports.
IQALUIT - Canada's New Government is investing more than $11.1 million to enhance safety at airports in Rankin Inlet and Taloyoak, under the Airports Capital Assistance Program. The safety improvements include the rehabilitation of airside surfaces at Rankin Inlet Airport ($7,672,170), and the crushing and rehabilitation of airside surfaces and replacement of airfield electrical systems at Taloyoak Airport ($3,524,111).
HALIFAX -- Canada's New Government is investing nearly $200,000 to enhance safety at Sydney Airport, under the Airports Capital Assistance Program. Today's investment is 90 per cent of the total estimated for replacing a runway sweeper at Nova Scotia's Sydney Airport. The airport, which serves the second-largest urban area in Nova Scotia, is important to the local economy, and its growing tourism industry.
