Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that Canada will host both the Canada-European Union Summit, on October 17, 2008, and the 12th Francophonie Summit, from October 17 to 19, 2008. Both summits will take place in Québec City.

His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond will take part in the 26th Colloque des écrivains, presented by the Académie des lettres du Québec. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Haofine International Trading Inc. are warning the public not to consume the Mengniu strawberry flavour sour milk beverage described below. This product is being recalled due to positive test results for melamine conducted by the CFIA.

On the previous day, Their Excellencies will host the 29th Art Matters forum, a discussion on the theme of How do we sustain buildings? How do buildings sustain us? at Carleton University's Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism.
