On October 1, 2008, Brian McCarthy, a senior executive of Betacom Corporation Inc., was convicted of one count of fraud in excess of $5,000, under section 380 of the Criminal Code by the Superior Court of Justice (Toronto Region). He was also acquitted of two counts of fraud.
