Panther Industries (Alberta) Inc. pleaded guilty on July 28, 2015 in Alberta Provincial Court and was ordered to pay a total of $375,000 in penalties for offences under the Fisheries Act, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA, 1999), and the Environmental Emergency Regulations, related to a spill of hydrochloric acid (HCl) into the environment and into water frequented by fish.

As parents across the country prepare to send their kids back to school, the Government of Canada is providing them with much-needed support through the increased Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB). Today, the Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, highlighted the boosted payments to families in Belleville. The enhanced UCCB provides almost $2,000 per year for each child under 6 and $720 per year for each child aged 6 through 17.
