Canadians and local artists share their passion for their countryCHARLOTTETOWN, June 27 - The Government of Canada's Canada Pavilion is coming to the Festival of Lights on Charlottetown's Historic Waterfront from June 28th to July 1st. The Canada Pavilion provides a showcase for many Government of Canada departments and agencies, and offers Canadians one-stop access to information on programs and services.The Canada Pavilion will be traveling to fairs and exhibitions acrossCanada. This year features Canada: A Land of Passion, an activity thatcelebrates our national identity by exploring and sharing in the passions and interests of fellow Canadians. Audience members will be encouraged toparticipate, and enjoy hands-on demonstrations of each art form by skilled practitioners. In addition, participants will receive a photo of themselves demonstrating their new skill."The Festival of Lights is a great opportunity for Canadians to unite and celebrate local talent. The Government of Canada is proud to be present at this kind of community event", said the Honourable Wayne Easter, Solicitor General of Canada.Activities scheduled at the Canada Pavilion during the Festival of Lights include an appearance by Caillou on June 28th, multiple appearances by well-known P.E.I. artists including Helen MacRae on June 29th, Mark Haines on June 30th, and Réal Pelletier on July 1st. Other activities include virtual tours of Parliament Hill and the War Memorial, an aboriginal trivia game and a video of last year's Heart of Canada journey with images of the totem pole.This year, the Canada Pavilion will visit 14 fairs and events across the country.
