For immediate releaseOTTAWA, March 8, 2004 -- A $1,084,776 competitive contract has been awarded to Thomas Fuller Construction Co. (1958) Ltd., of Ottawa, to renovate the Plouffe Park Building, located at 1 Oak Street, Ottawa, Ontario. This contract will maintain 25 jobs and will be completed in early April.The announcement was made today by Marlene Catterall, MP for Ottawa-West-Nepean, on behalf of the Honourable Stephen Owen, Minister of Public Works and Government Services."The Plouffe Park Building has served the Government of Canada well since the 1940s, first as a depository for munitions and other goods in support of the war effort, and later as a warehouse used by various government departments," said Ms. Catterall. "The contractor will salvage this building through the selective demolition of some portions while fortifying the remaining structures."Thomas Fuller Construction will reinforce the pillars and beams of the retained portions of the building which still serves as a warehouse. It will also salvage selected structural elements from the building for future re-use.
