OTTAWA, June 30, 2004 — Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, will celebrate Canadian citizenship when she swears in 50 new Canadians during a public ceremony to be held on Thursday, July 1st, at 10:00 a.m., in the Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. The new Canadians, 25 adults and 25 children, originate from 19 countries: Algeria, Barbados, Burundi, China, Egypt, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nepal, Republic of Congo, Russia, Rwanda, Spain, United Kingdom and United States. They will be among the 2,126 new Canadians to take the Oath of Citizenship at ceremonies held across the country on Canada Day. An English-speaking family and a French-speaking family will be available for interviews after the ceremony.
