Government of Canada Announces Funding for ACFO Rive-Nord

ELLIOT LAKE, August 20, 2004 -- Brent St. Denis, Member of Parliament (Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing), on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage Liza Frulla, today announced funding of $30,000 for l'Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario (ACFO) Rive-Nord."The French language and culture are essential components of our Canadian identity," said Mr. St. Denis. "The Government of Canada is proud to support organizations such as ACFO Rive-Nord, which provide quality services to the Francophone population.""Linguistic duality is one of the foundations of our country that dates from its beginnings, and it is synonymous with success and prosperity in our modern world," said Minister Frulla. "Today's announcement demonstrates the will of our Government to give official-language communities in minority situations the means to develop and to play a key role in our society."ACFO Rive-Nord Inc. will develop a series of initiatives to provide additional services to the Francophone population.
