September 2, 2004 (Ottawa) -- The Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities, which is headed by Mr. Justice John H. Gomery, will commence public hearings: Date: Tuesday, September 7, 2004, continuing to January, 2005 Days: Monday - Thursday Time: 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: Victoria Hall Bytown Pavilion 111 Sussex Drive (former City Hall) Ottawa, Ontario Please note that this is a change of venue Messrs. Bernard Roy, Lead Counsel, Neil Finkelstein, Co-Counsel and Guy Cournoyer, Associate Counsel will present opening statements on Tuesday, September 7. This will mark the beginning of Phase 1A of the Commission's Inquiry. The opening statements will be followed by the appearance of the first witnesses from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.
