OTTAWA, September 20, 2004 -- The Honourable Bill Graham, Minister of National Defence, announces the award of the following selected contracts for the month of July. SUPPLY CONTRACTS CALGARY, AB - A $805,700 contract was awarded to Ceramic Protection Corporation for the provision of 3000 bullet resistant plate sets, to be affixed on the inside of the front and back of fragmentation vests worn by ground personnel. These plate sets weigh two and a half kilograms each, are made of a ceramic component and multiple layers of ballistic protection fibre material, designed to offer maximum protection against small arms fire. The plates will be delivered by October 2004. OTTAWA, ON - A $728,900 contract was awarded to CMC Electronics Incorporated for the supply of ten control display units for the Canadian Forces CP140 Aurora Maritime Patrol aircraft. This purchase is part of the Aurora Incremental Modernization Program. Four units will be delivered in August 2004 and the six remaining units are expected for delivery in August 2005. GUELPH, ON - A $349,000 contract was awarded to GMA Cover Corporation for the purchase of tents to complete the warehousing complex deployed to Haiti. The firm will supply one Multi Purpose Tactical Soft Shelter tent, which is a four-section multi purpose shelter system, and one four section operating tent. GMA Corporation is the exclusive distributor of these tents in North America. The delivery of tents is expected for October 2004. HAMILTON, ON - A $293,500 contract was awarded to Fell Fab Limited for the supply of 4000 urban camouflage covers. The covers provide protection to field equipment and stores used in an urban environment. The delivery date for the covers is January 2005. MONTREAL, QC - A $273,600 contract was awarded to Unisource Technology Inc. for the supply of twenty CF-18 aircraft missile launcher parts to support existing equipment. These components are part of the safety mechanism of the launcher. The parts are expected for delivery in November 2005. REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS NANAIMO, BC - A $333,000 contract was awarded to Nanaimo Shipyard Limited for work on the YDT11 Diving Tender, a diving support vessel. The contractor will overhaul the vessel and machinery and do some repair work on the hull.
