November 22, 2004 OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, will spend two days in Toronto and one day in Kingston to take part in official events from November 23 to 25, 2004. On November 23, at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex, the Governor General will attend the first Voices for Justice Dinner in honour of the 2004 Human Rights Watch defenders. The dinner will celebrate the valour of individuals who put their lives on the line to defend the rights of others. On November 24, as honorary patron of Bridgepoint Health, the Governor General will visit the organization's facility and engage in a roundtable discussion with board members and staff. Bridgepoint Health is a new integrated health care organization made up of four institutions: the Bridgepoint Hospital, the Bridgepoint Centre for Living, the Bridgepoint Health Research Institute, and the Bridgepoint Health Foundation. The organization provides complex care, rehabilitation and long-term care as well as extensive community-based rehabilitation services. Later that day, Governor General Clarkson will be made an honorary member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and deliver an address on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the College. On November 25, Governor General Clarkson will travel to Kingston to attend the sesquicentennial one-day symposium hosted by the School of Medicine at Queen's University. The theme will "explore the future of medical education in Canada", by bringing together prominent Canadian figures to discuss key themes in medical education and health care in Canada.
