Andrew Allan Flotre reappointed to Pacific Pilotage Authority

No. H130/04 For release December 22, 2004 ANDREW ALLAN FLOTRE REAPPOINTED TO PACIFIC PILOTAGE AUTHORITY OTTAWA - Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre today announced the reappointment of Andrew Allan Flotre of Victoria, British Columbia, to the board of directors of the Pacific Pilotage Authority. "I am delighted that Mr. Flotre has agreed to serve on the board of the Pacific Pilotage Authority," said Mr. Lapierre. "His extensive experience in the marine industry will serve him well as he completes his duties as a member of the board." Mr. Flotre began his career as a marine officer for Bute Towing Limited before becoming a certified marine officer for Shields Navigation Limited. He was most recently a licensed marine pilot for B.C. Coast Pilots Limited. Mr. Flotre has a 350-ton master's certificate and a first mate foreign-going and home trade master's certificate. He continued his education with ship manoeuvring simulations, advanced pilot training, a bridge resource management course and an advanced ship-handling course. Mr. Flotre is a member of the Canadian Marine Pilots Association, the Canadian Merchant Service Guild and the International Marine Pilots Association. The Pacific Pilotage Authority is a Crown corporation created in 1972 under the Pilotage Act. It operates and maintains safe, reliable and efficient marine pilotage and related services in the coastal waters of British Columbia, including the Fraser River.
