CANADIAN COAST GUARD CAUTIONS SNOWMOBILE USERS IN MARY'S HARBOUR

December 17, 2004 Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), Newfoundland and Labrador Region advises snowmobile users to exercise caution when traveling on the harbour at Mary's Harbour, Labrador. The Coast Guard Aids to Navigation is unable to retrieve buoy NMH5 located at Mary's Harbour as it is frozen in the ice in position 52 degrees 18 minutes 35.5 second, North 55 degrees 50 minutes 11.4 seconds, West. The buoy is green in color with a green flashing light. The CCG advises snowmobile and 4 wheel vehicle users in the coming months to exercise caution when traveling in this area. It may not be easy to see when snowmobiling in poor weather or if there is a large volume of snowmachines in the area.
