CMHC TO RELEASE RESULTS OF ITS 2004 RENTAL MARKET SURVEY

OTTAWA, December 16, 2004 -- How is the rental market doing in Canada? Have vacancy rates and rents increased or decreased in the last year? What areas have the lowest vacancy rates? The highest? To find out, get the results of CMHC's 2004 Rental market survey on December 21st. The survey provides a snapshot of vacancy rates and average rents for all centres in Canada with a population of 10,000 or more. In addition, detailed reports for 28 major selected urban centres across Canada will be released. This year's survey also features the availability rate in major centres, a new measure on a pilot basis. Spokespersons across the country will be available on Tuesday for interviews.
