OTTAWA, December 15, 2004 -- Media representatives are advised that the Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of the Environment, will visit Buenos Aires, Argentina from December 13 to 18, where he will represent Canada at the Ministerial-level meetings of the 10th Conference of the Parties (CoP 10) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). While at CoP 10, Minister Dion will engage in a series of bilateral meetings with senior officials representing large emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil and South Africa, as well as other nations expected to play a key role in leading discussions on the shape of global climate change action beyond the first Kyoto Protocol commitment period which ends in 2012.
