December 2, 2004 Immediate Prime Minister Paul Martin was pleased to announce today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service: Wayne Wouters, currently Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, becomes Secretary of the Treasury Board, effective December 20, 2004; Alan Nymark, currently Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency, becomes Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, effective December 20, 2004; Michel Dorais, currently Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, becomes Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency, effective December 20, 2004; Janice Charette, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Health, becomes Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, effective December 20, 2004; Ian Green, currently Deputy Minister of Health, becomes Special Advisor to the Minister of Health, effective December 20, 2004; Morris Rosenberg, currently Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, becomes Deputy Minister of Health, effective December 20, 2004; Hélène Gosselin, currently Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Health, effective December 20, 2004; John Sims, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Justice, becomes Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, effective December 20, 2004; James Lahey, currently Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs with special responsibility for northern issues, effective December 20, 2004; François Guimont, currently Deputy Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services, effective January 24, 2005; and Guy Mc Kenzie, currently Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, becomes Associate Deputy Head of Infrastructure, effective December 6, 2004. Mr. Green will be serving as Special Advisor to the Minister of Health into the new year and he will help to ensure a smooth transition at Health Canada.
