January 27, 2005 OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, will visit Uptergrove Public School in Ramara Township, Ontario, near Orillia, to attend a Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) ceremony on Friday, January 28, 2005, at 10 a.m. As Patron of the CAA and Chief Patroller of Canada, the Governor General will present the CAA/Governor General Lifesaving Medal to Matt Sexton and Amber Visser, two former students of Uptergrove Public School. The former bus patrollers will receive the award for their quick reaction in helping to save the life of their bus driver, who had suffered a severe allergic reaction while operating a school bus. The CAA/Governor General Lifesaving Medal is the highest award given to members of the School Safety Patrol Program. It recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and contributions made to society by School Safety patrollers who have saved the lives of persons in imminent danger.
