For immediate release WINNIPEG, February 1st 2005 - A $1,021,315 competitive contract has been awarded to McCaine Electric Ltd., of Winnipeg, Manitoba, to extend the computerized lighting system at the Government of Canada Building, 269 Main Street, in Winnipeg. This contract will be completed in April 2005. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Reg Alcock, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board, on behalf of the Honourable Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services. "The computerized lighting system will reduce energy costs," said Minister Alcock. "The installation of this feature demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to ensuring the environmental efficiency of the buildings in its care here in Manitoba." McCaine Electric will undertake all necessary mechanical, electrical and other installations and readjustments to ensure the computerized lighting system services the entire building. Funding for this contract was provided for in the March 2004 Federal Budget.
