OTTAWA - The Honourable R. John Efford, Minister of Natural Resources Canada, today announced the appointment of Patricia McCunn Miller as a member of the National Energy Board (NEB). "Ms. McCunn Miller brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the energy industry, particularly in regulatory and environmental affairs," said Minister Efford. "I am confident that she will add value to the work of the Board." From 1996 to 2003, Ms. McCunn Miller held several positions in the regulatory field at EnCana Corporation (and its predecessor, PanCanadian Energy), most recently as Vice-President of Environment and Regulatory Affairs. Prior to that, she held senior positions at ESBI Alberta Ltd. and the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission. In addition, she served on the National Roundtable on Energy and the Environment as member and vice-chair, and co-chaired the Energy and Climate Change Program and the Domestic Emissions Trading Program. Ms. McCunn Miller holds a law degree from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the bars of Alberta and Ontario in 1984. The NEB is an independent federal agency, established by an Act of Parliament in 1959, that regulates several aspects of Canada's energy industry, notably oil, gas and electricity. Its purpose is to promote safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency in the Canadian public interest, and to study matters relating to the development and use of energy resources.
