GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ACKNOWLEDGES BOMBARDIER DECISION

OTTAWA, March 15, 2005 -- The Government of Canada today acknowledged the decision by the board of directors of Bombardier Inc. to offer the C-Series jet to potential buyers as a significant step forward in the decision-making process surrounding the project. "The Government of Canada will support this project subject to the benefits it would provide to Canada, should Bombardier decide to pursue the C-Series in conjunction with proposals put forward by the governments of Quebec and Ontario," said the Honourable David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry. "This is an anchor company in a key industry, and we are committed to ensuring that Canada enjoys maximum benefit from the potential new jet program, while being responsible to the taxpayer."
