Government of Canada funds Skills program for Enfield Day Care

About HRSDC | Our Offices | Programs & Services | A-Z Index March 18, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ENFIELD, NOVA SCOTIA - The Tot's Academy Child Care Society will receive federal funding to help Nova Scotia youth gain work experience and lifeskills. The Honourable Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants today announced funding for $43,717 to help two young Nova Scotians make a successful transition to the workplace. He made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Lucienne Robillard, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. "I'm pleased this project will focus on youth in our community," said Minister Brison. "Its an excellent example of how the Government of Canada is supporting young people by funding projects that help them to develop the skills they need to participate in the work force. Helping youth to shape a positive future is one of the most important things we can do as a government and as a society." Human Resources and Skills Development Canada is providing financial help for this project through a component of the Youth Employment Strategy called Skills Link. It helps youth facing barriers to employment to acquire the skills, knowledge and work experience they need to participate in the job market. The Tot's Academy Childcare Society offers quality day care, after school programs and day camps for children in Enfield. This project will help the two youth gain work experience at the facility and also take part in specially designed life skills workshops. Funding for this project was provided for in the 2005 federal Budget.
