March 7, 2005 OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, and Honorary Patron of the United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada), will present the 25th Pearson Peace Medal to Lieutenant General Romeo Dallaire (retired), during a ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. The medal honours outstanding Canadian achievements in the field of international service and understanding. Pearson devoted his distinguished career: aid to the developing world, mediation of armed conflict, assisting refugees and others in need, equal rights and justice for all humanity, and peaceful change in the world through international organizations.
