Transport Minister proposes reappointment to the Atlantic Pilotage Authority

No. H051/05 For release April 5, 2005 TRANSPORT MINISTER PROPOSES REAPPOINTMENT TO THE ATLANTIC PILOTAGE AUTHORITY OTTAWA — Transport Minister Jean-C. Lapierre today proposed the reappointment of Ms. Anne Soucie as chair of the Atlantic Pilotage Authority for a period of one year. The proposed appointment will be referred to the Standing Committee on Transport for review. "I am very pleased to recommend that Ms. Soucie continue to serve in this leadership role with the Atlantic Pilotage Authority," said Mr. Lapierre. "Her extensive experience in administration and as a member of numerous boards and committees will be a tremendous asset for the authority." Anne Soucie received her diploma in nursing from Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Edmundston, New Brunswick in 1967. She was city councillor for Edmundston from 1994 to 1998 and served on various committees including the Premier¿s Advisory Committee on New Brunswick’s Image, the New Brunswick Police Commission, and as member of the organizing committee for the professional development for board members of Crown corporations and agencies. She also served as co-chair of the board of Dialogue New Brunswick. Most recently, Ms. Soucie was the regional director for the New Brunswick Tree of Hope Campaign and a member of the board for Atlantic Canada’s Society of Economuseums. The Atlantic Pilotage Authority is a Crown corporation created in 1972 under the Pilotage Act. It operates and maintains a safe, efficient and economical pilotage service on all coastal waters in the Atlantic region.
